What I’m listening to & stuff to check out

March 28, 2011

I’m going to throw out a bunch of songs from albums I have been too lazy/busy to write a review on. These are all good & stuff I’ve been really diggin’ lately.

This 1st band I’ve been playing nonstop the past week. It is a one man band called Teeel. I downloaded Teeel‘s album Amulet & can’t seem to get enough of it. He calls his music ‘dream pop’ or ‘synth-pop’, just think of New Wave inspired chillwave. Yeah, it’s awesome. Check ‘um out here. Here is track 1 from Amulet.

This next is a Springfield, Missouri band called Ha Ha Tonka. These boys play some damn good folk-rock music. They recently released their new album Death of a Decade. It is my favorite album of theirs so far. I had the privilege of seeing them perform their 1st show of their new tour before they hit SXSW. It was my favorite (5th) performance seeing the band. Here is their 1st track off of their new album.

I’ve been listening to another folk band a lot that just released their 1st album, The Head & The Heart. They are from Seattle & have put together a great debut album. Here is a live performance from KEXP in Seattle.

This next guy that has released a fantastic album is Kurt Vile. I don’t know what to even say about this guy. Just great music. Go pick up Smoke Ring For My Halo for yourself.

There a quite a few others with great albums that still have yet to get a review up for including: Yuck, PJ Harvey, Radiohead, Cut Copy, & Destroyer.
