Killer Mike – R.A.P. Music [(co)Album of the month]

Finally, that 1st breakthrough rap album of 2012. Let me introduce Killer Mike’s R.A.P. Music. The album entirely produced by El-P, gives an nod back to 80’s hip hop. With a message as strong as early N.W.A., R.A.P. music is that album that can’t really be lumped together with other current rap albums. So far, this is my favorite rap album of the year ahead of Death Grips & Schoolboy Q.

Christopher Weingarten on Spin, did my favorite job describing the album:

“A child of the ’80s and a student of the Internet, Killer Mike is as exciting and wildly unclassifiable as hip-hop gets: New York noise and country sh*t, nods to when rap was punk and crunk was pop, Ice Cube before he needed hooks, David Banner before he needed to whisper, and Willie D before he needed anybody.”
